How to Lose 42 Pounds in 6 Weeks - Success Story

Estate agent Snita Sharma loved nothing more than takeaways, fizzy drinks and crisps. But as she snacked on what she wanted and refused to do any exercise, her weight slowly started to creep up. Then, 10 years ago, Snita was diagnosed with Type 2 diabetes. She said: "Diabetes has had a really serious impact on my life. For the first eight or nine years I didn’t really care and just ate what I wanted and took my medication but I never felt good and was always tired, hungry and experiencing mood swings."

At 154 pounds, the 51-year-old was around 40 pounds overweight and was at risk of further complications caused by her condition. These can include sight loss and even amputation - so Snita's family stepped in and urged her to take action.

She said: "After turning 49 I wrote a list with my family of all the things I wanted to do before I turned 50. They challenged me to put my Type 2 diabetes into remission by going on a strict diet - Custom Keto. After 6 weeks, she lost total 42 pounds" ( Read more : What is Custom Keto - Explained on Fox News

"My husband took me to a nearby leisure centre where we saw a notice about a beginners running club. I started running and my blood sugar levels started to slowly come down."

It wasn't long until Snita noticed the pounds falling off as she ran each week - and she soon caught the running bug. As well as running at weekends, she also started training a few times in the week. And this coupled with an overhaul in her diet, with takeaway fish and chips and high fat Indian takaways replaced with low fat options and healthy choices, she was soon slimming down.

Snita said: "Losing weight hashelped me to put the condition into remission. As soon as I started to lose weight my blood sugar levels started to come down. I felt so much better and got faster as result, which helped me lose even more weight."

Later this year, she will take part in the iconic Simplyhealth Great North Run and the Simplyhealth Great South Run, part of a series of mass participation running events which has partnered with Diabetes UK, to encourage more people to become more active.

Snita said: "The impact running has had on my life has been huge. If I hadn’t joined my running club and got the support I’ve had from my coach and the rest of the group I wouldn’t have kept it up. Running has really helped my diabetes by getting me fitter and forcing me to address my diet, which together have helped me diabetes enter into remission."

She added: "It’s been a real journey which I’m still on and I feel like a changed person. I have so much energy and do so much more in a day than I ever did before. It’s been truly life-changing." And after runs planned in the Simplyhealth Great North Run and Simplyhealth Great South Run later this year, has also recently completed half marathons in London, Liverpool and Dublin.
